Restoration’s design and interfaced aren’t really going to get your blood rushing, but do you really need kooky graphics when half your data has been vanished by aliens? No. All you really want is to get your files back in, where you left them, good as new. And Restoration can do this and more. Just stipulate the source file and then let it search for deleted files. It will scan and recover files, folders and clusters in the blink of an eye. Nevertheless, Restoration has a couple of issues, including the fact that it sometimes restores the folder without retrieving the files that were in it when it absconded. As a result, it is highly recommended that you check all the files and folders that have been re-established to ensure the job is complete. If anything is missing, you can search and restore them individually, file by file. As with most freeware, select the site you wish to download it from with care. Some sites bundle tools such as this with a load of rubbish that you don’t really want and that may be potentially harmful to your system. One other little tip – be sure to run Restoration as administrator, otherwise it won’t work. Free and saving the world of data from gremlins and the like – not bad!
